Batley Care & Drop-In

Batley Care and Drop-in was started in 2010 as an ecumenical venture to support disadvantaged people living in Batley and surrounding area. It continues to be based in the Brimer Hall, below Central Methodist Church (side entrance) at the bottom of Batley Market Square. It is open from 10.00 to 12.00 noon each Monday, and caters for those people who are on low income, socially isolated or homeless.

Run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers, many from various local churches, it provides breakfasts, tea/coffee and hot lunches, plus other provisions.

The aims of the Drop-in are to:

· Provide a safe environment where people can meet together socially in a friendly safe environment.

· Support clients’ specific requests for the provision of food bags, clothing and other supplies, that have been donated to the Drop-in. These are handed out based on individual need.

· Enable, where possible, access to external bodies, both public and private, who can provide advice and assistance to clients.

Since the Drop-in’s start, everything issued to clients has either resulted from approved grants or generous individual/group donations.
